who I am: online marketer & interactive strategist

I have over a decade of ideas and experience in the online space, at media web sites, for national content providers, at nonprofits, and interactive agencies.

I draw on web best practices to help small organizations and Fortune 100 companies alike determine how to improve their online user experience, position themselves better, tell their story more effectively to their audience, and make more money. I help you determine what your goals are, and the strategy to reach them, using interactive channels for marketing and advertising.

I serve as the online marketing engagement lead, driving the strategy for leveraging multiple marketing channels — PPC, organic search optimization, search marketing, social media and more — to meet client goals, whether it's to increase traffic, increase sales, or both.

Since 1997, I've been involved in dozens of web site, branding, online marketing and other interactive projects. Selected highlights include

  • director of marketing for a top Washington, DC interactive agency, leading the analysis and strategy for a client's $2M yearly online advertising budget with a Top 3 online travel agency site
  • relaunch of the completely redesigned and rebuilt CQ Politics web site in time for the fall 2007 election cycle and increased interest in the 2008 presidential campaign
  • project lead for the concepting, web site development, marketing strategy and media planning and buying for the Golden Gecko competition, a GEICO online marketing campaign aimed at the 18-35 demographic
  • project lead for a year-long online marketing campaign for StuartWeitzman.com, including customer email marketing, media buys on theknot.com, custom landing pages, and a charity shoe auction on eBay
  • engagement lead for reconceiving the interaction design for the GEICO quote and purchase process, beginning with business analysis of the user tasks and screen assets, validating a revised information flow through a multiple-week rapid prototype process (concept model), through the interface design and delivery of HTML and graphic assets
  • user workflow, wireframes and interface design for one of the earliest association online ecommerce sites, nursesbooks.org
